# The Steemit Drama Saddens Me. #  ## As I Watch the Community Fight Over Petty BS I Sit Here Contemplating the Future of the Platform. ## I wrote a post. "[Don't Let Authoritarians Destroy Steemit Like They Did Google Plus.](https://steemit.com/steemit/@hilarski/don-t-let-authoritarians-destroy-steemit-like-they-did-google-plus) For three years I built an amazing network on Google Plus. My business was born on the platform. The problem was there were groups of people who felt that their opinion mattered more than others. These people were concrete in their thinking and were willing to sink the ship in order to see their views realized. (For those of you with an opinion about GPlus but never used it, you don't need to comment, your opinion is less than worthless). https://media.giphy.com/media/3oD3YFdLN5TK5mLVjW/giphy.gif The best thing to do on any platform is not to take sides. I personally avoid staking an opinion for or against the opposition. People will try to convince you to join their battles but there is no gun to your head so why join in the fight? People will remember the ones who destroyed something they love. I know years after the incidents on Google Plus there are a group of people I would never associate with or do business with because I know they are cancerous. ## Put the Sword Away. ## https://media.giphy.com/media/v6tgnxVGPnhEk/giphy.gif ## How Can Steemit Survive the Petty Infighting? ## All you and I can do is sit back and let the cards fall where they may. I will take mental notes of the people who are hurting the future of this platform and my investment of time and mental energy. I stand securely in my opinion that we are still in Beta and the power struggle is part of the growing pains. I do not recommend taking sides or adding fuel to the fire. I also do not recommend writing anything that can harm your reputation publicly online or in Steemit Chat. Seek out the people who are spreading the love and support them in every way possible.
