# Once Again Panama is in the Top 2 Places to Retire. #  ## Panama is a Great Place to Live But it is Not Perfect. ## I know many people pay close attention to websites like International Living and Forbes but there is a ton of information that they don't tell you. I want to enlighten people on the reality that is my adopted country. I will share with you my personal Pros and Cons of life based on my six years of living here. The Weather is Amazing. ### 2. Cost of Living is Relatively Low. ### 3. Healthcare is Cheap. ### 4. Great Retirement Program ### 5. Cost of Housing is Cheap Outside of the City. ### 6. Great Cultural Mix. ### 7. The Balboa is Pegged to the Dollar. USD is the Currency Used. ### 8. Business Friendly. ### 9. Bitcoin Oasis. # Cons of Life in Panama. # ### 1. No Jobs ### 2. Customer Service is Poor. ### 3. Bureaucracy that Would Make Anyone Cringe. ### 4. Lawyers are Sharks. ### 5. Traffic is Horrible in and Around Panama City. ### 6. Xenophobia is Growing Especially Towards Other Latins. ### 7. The Economy is Slowing. ### 8. The Jungle is Being Leveled for Development. ### 9. The problem is most North Americans don't. They come here and complain non stop. I always laugh when I see people who join the expats communities online and let everyone know they are coming and then within a year they tuck tail and run home to their comfort zone. People ask me all the time if there are jobs. No, there are no jobs! If you come here the only way to survive is to have a business or have an income from outside of Panama. If you don't have a work permit you are out of luck. I recommend a minimum of $2000 a month and that is not in Panama City. Like I mentioned above, sites like International Living like to paint a rosy picture of life in Panama. It is not as wonderful as they crack it up to be.
